So totally unnecessary…
So I was doing my laundry today (warm family—reds, browns, dark pinks, oranges, citrons, and some choice blacks) and I was thinking about how much clothing I have. A lot. And I weeded out a few things to get rid of, but it can be hard. I get attached. I love them all like family!
Sometimes I play this game with myself where I examine my current outfit and try to remember the circumstances by which I came by each piece of clothing—when, where, price, etc.
And so because I do not have tons to do these days, I’ve decided to keep track of everything I wear for a week and record it here. I’m interested in how many outfits I go through and how many things I wear in a given week. In case you are worried, and I don’t know why you would be, I’m going to try hard to just go about dressing as usual so as not to mess with the results.
Thursday:
1. Wake up in Bloody Mary’s t-shirt (gift from my dad a few years ago, after his trip to Bora Bora) and Calvin Klein boxers (free/stolen from a freelance job about a month ago).
2. Plan was to go to doctor’s appointment, then run in Central Park, then lunch with Katie and Anna. But I got sick and ended up taking a nap in my WYSE t-shirt (free, from junior year of college) and running shorts (from Target, about two weeks ago, $14.99).
3. Wake up from accidental nap and rush to lunch in California Republic t-shirt (purchased for me by my father, at a gas station in Cambria, CA in March 2007), dark wash matchstick jeans (J. Crew on 5th ave, March 2007, on sale! for 29.99) and silver Havaianas (Nordstrom, Chicago, June 2007, about $16).
4. Cleaning my room in California Republic t-shirt, child porny looking American Apparel shorts (October 2007, 3rd ave, $15-$20) and green Havaianas (on sale! for $10, Santa Monica Urban Outfitters, December 2004)
5. Jeans back on for trip to launder mat.
6. In the evening, the running outfit goes back on complete with New Balance running shoes, a hand-me-down from my friend Erin. They were new and she didn’t want them. Yea for me!
7. Late a night, t-shirt with elephants and zebras on it (Zara, Madrid, March 2005, like 8 euro) and boxers with sheep on them (Nick and Nora, sometime in high school, gift from someone…bit of a mystery).
8. Out for a cigarette, adding black hooded sweatshirt with metal fleur-de-lys (Target, Dublin, $19.99, August 2006)
hahahaha this is so silly, 8 costume changes in one day!
